Job opportunities

In the last week, the editors have received calls from three organizations looking to fill open positions. Here’s sufficient detail for follow-up by interested readers:

1. NV Energy has two open senior-engineer staff-level positions, one focusing on gas turbines and the other on balance-of-plant systems and equipment. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, plus five years of experience as a practicing engineer for candidates with a PE license, eight years without. An excellent understanding of major powerplant components, controls and protection systems, root-cause analysis, and risk analysis is desired.

Essential duties and responsibilities include leading, developing, and overseeing project designs, specifications, and engineered solutions for various powerplant equipment and systems. Mechanical inspections and performance evaluation of operating equipment are included in these job descriptions.

More detail is available on request. Contact Jimmy Daghlian, manager of plant engineering and technical services, Generation Engineering.

2. Fort Myers Technical College is seeking an instructor for its turbine/generator program. This is an outstanding opportunity for a recent retiree looking to share his or her extensive knowledge on equipment design, operation, and maintenance to train the next generation of powerplant operators and technicians. 3. Creative Power Solutions USA, a boutique engineering firm specializing in rotating machinery solutions for the electric power industry, has a challenging opportunity for a recent graduate with a Master’s degree in engineering.
