He studied Materials Engineering at Brunel University, West London (UK), specializing in welding and joining techniques. He also has an MBA in International Business from Florida Atlantic University.

Scott Keller, PhD – Manager – Airfoils, Upgrades, & Rotors

Scott Keller is a Manager in the Airfoils, Upgrades, and Rotors – Product Engineering group at Power Systems Mfg., LLC. His main responsibilities include directing rotor and casing development programs, encompassing both lifetime extension and new make solutions. Prior to Scott’s managerial role, he was a structures engineer performing static and rotating component analyses, lifetime predictions, lifetime tool development, root cause analyses, and leading rotor disk manufacturing programs. Scott has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as presented at conferences and symposiums around the world.

Scott completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Central Florida, with an emphasis on experimental and analytical fracture mechanics assessments. After completing his PhD in 2013, Scott joined the staff at PSM.

Hany Rizkalla – Director, Combustion Engineering

Hany Rizkalla joined PSM’s combustion engineering team in 2002, after 7 years of tenure at GE and Pratt & Whitney Canada in structures engineering capacity, performing thermal, vibration, LCF/HCF life-cycle prediction on E &F class gas turbine combustion components. Assumed Management responsibility in 2008 for various combustion programs including the FlameSheet combustor, AutoTune and other F class combustion component design programs. Currently leading the Combustion Engineering group since 2015 and supporting development of combustion products to meet today’s energy market demands.

Hany graduated from Concordia University in Montréal, Canada in 1996, with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and a Masters in Aerospace specializing in Turbomachinery and Propulsion.

Presentation Synopsis

More power? Better heat rate? Faster ramp rate? FSNL in less than 10 mins? Lower load points? More Fuel Flexibility? Longer maintenance intervals?

This is your chance to connect directly with PSM’s Technical Experts, streaming live from PSM’s Webinar Studio. A panel of six experts will discuss how all this can be achieved within your existing 7F.03 with proven, retrofitable solutions available from PSM to improve your power plants technical and economic performance. By combining FlexSuite controls logic optimization blocks, GTOP turbine upgrade packages, and FlameSheet combustor systems significant performance increases are possible.

Real examples of pre and post upgrade plant performance will be engine data, from ramp rate increases from 13MW/min to 20MW/min or even 35MW/min, all the way to our FlameTOP 2019 CCJ Best of the Best award winning plant upgrade.

This showcase plant upgrade included all our latest upgrade options and is an example of how major plant benefits can be obtained without the need to change cases, rotors, etc. Such an approach keeps the plant compatible with all standard 7F.03 hardware, allowing the operator to retain the ability to keep multiple parts and service suppliers competitive and not lock themselves back into only OEM supply.

During this flawlessly executed outage, PSM was able to upgrade the turbine section, combustion system and provide controls system optimization, to achieve faster starts, over 10% more power, 10 – 15MW lower turndown point, all with less emissions and 32k maintenance intervals.

Key Takeaways for Users

Participants will come away understanding how the latest OEM alternative advanced frame technology can be integrated into your F-Class platform with case study examples of small and major customer upgrade projects.

Highlighted technologies include our development and validation of Additive Manufactured (3D printed) components, using our multi-OEM platform design and engine performance experience. Also in focus are our FlexSuite range of controls optimization modules that can be implemented on existing OEM controllers, as well as the proven PSM AutoTune combustion optimizer.
