Derek Hooper graduated in 1998 from Maine Maritime Academy with a B.S. in Marine Engineering.
From 1998-2001 he sailed with the Merchant Marines as a Marine Engineer. From 2001-2009 he
worked as a Service Engineer Generator Specialist for Siemens-Westinghouse, where he served as a
team lead for the Advanced Product Development Group. He developed processes for the WESTAC ,
Aeropac I, TLRI & THRI. These processes include partial discharge oxidation remediation, end-winding
vibration analysis & remediation and spark erosion detection & remediation. He also specializes in
brushless exciter inspection and repair.
